Job Description

Wyndham Grand is now seeking a Roots To Go Cashier to join our team at the Rio Mar Beach Grand Resort location in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.

Job Summary

The Roots to Go Cashier is responsible of accepting payment for food and beverages and making proper change for guests and fellow employees. Also he/she interacts with guetss while offering and servicing different options of food and beverages, according to the Coffee Shop or Outlet Menu, charge the guests for their selection and make sure to extend a memorable experience to all our guests.

Education & Experience


    -High school graduate.
    -Fully bilingual (English and Spanish).
    -Previous experience in similar position preferred.
    -Basic knowledge of Food & Beverage preferred.
    -Able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays and rotative shifts.
    -Micros system knowledge preferred.


Physical Requirements


    -Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
    -Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
    -Ability to stand during entire shift.

    -Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings.
    -Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts Standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
    -Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which includes wearing the proper uniform and nametag.
    -Comply with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
    -Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.
    -Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.
    -Must be able to understand and apply complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.
    -Must be able to cross-train in other hotel related areas.
    -Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.
    -Must be able to show initiative, including anticipating guest or operational needs.
    -Perform other duties as requested by management.
    -Maintain a friendly and warm demeanor at all times.


Fundamental Requirements


    -Prepare designated Outlet area with all the tools and equipment requred to provide the service to the guets (included but not limited to: napkins cups, spoons, serving spoons, forks, knives, micros paper, etc).
    -Make sure that the outlet has the necessary inventory to open everyday.
    -Keep food and beverage display clean and up to date throughout the shift.
    -Keep all machines clean and up to date throughout the shift.
    -Charge the guest and close checks following accounting standards and at the end of the shift, deposit all day sales paperwork, closing documens and cash in the front desk designated area.
    -At the end of the shift, make sure to count the bank assigned and leave it with the assigned amount and deposit tne rest of the cash in the front desk designated area.
    -Maintain area clean and presentable to all our guests.
    -Keep clean all chairs, tables, refrigerators, micros computer, food display, serving table and all Coffee Shop or Outlet area throughout the shift and make sure these areas are clean at the end of the shift.
    -Lock and secure the refrigerators, micros computer, tools and equipment (napkins, spoons, serving spoons, cups, etc) at the end of the shift and make outlet inventory for next day.
    -Upsell food and beverages.
    -Ensure that the products are fresh (check expiration dates) and and coordinate to have fresh products all the time.
    -Comply at all times with hotel standards of and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
    -Collect money and/or credit cards from guests and servers, make correct change.
    -Operate the approved credit card machine.
    -Prepare cashier report at the end of the shift.
    -Greet and seat guests at appropriate tables in a timely manner.
    -Perform opening and closing duties according to the established side-work checklist.
    -Be attentive of guests' needs and assit in providing a pleasant dining experience.
    -Properly take reservations for all outlets.
    -Have a through knowledge of menus and current specials in all applicable outlets.
    -Answer the phone according to standards.
    -Communicate effectively and courteously over the telephone.
    -Assist servers and host/hostess in the serving of guests, as needed.
    -Ensure quality control of menus with regard to cleanliness and appereance.
    -Ensure overall guest satisfaction.
    -Perform other duties as requested by management.
