Work Schedule: Varied Days and Hours
Performs health screens specific to infectious diseases to entrants at Presbyterian Espanola Hospital when indicated. Also assists with wayfinding and general questions the patients/visitors have about the facility.
*Greets customers as they enter facility and perform the necessary health screening. Involves donning and doffing PPE and asking medical and/or health-related questions (from a script), taking temperatures and then following an algorithm to direct visitors to appropriate locations. Will maintain up to date information on processes so as to correctly direct patients? appropriate areas of the hospital. May have assist patients/visitors who have mobility issues.
*Escalates positive screens (people with fever and/or symptoms) to appropriate medical or nursing personnel
*Operates thermal screening or other selected technology solutions effectively once trained
*Manages patient, visitor and/or employee flow in assigned screening area
*Ensures people are wearing masks as they enter the facility per protocol.
* Maintains cleanliness of entry and waiting areas.
*Monitors number of people entering facility in accordance with Presbyterian policies and guidance.
*Rounds on patients and families frequently to assess and address personal needs, concerns or comfort related issues. Reports information to responsible nurse for resolution when necessary.
*Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively in person as needed with people entering the facility. Following training, demonstrates ability to de-escalate potentially tense situations and/or escalates issues as directed
*Performs functions with patient safety and patient experience in the forefront; creates a welcoming environment
*Performs other functions as required.
Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
*Ability to effectively interact with customers to understand their needs.
*Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in person and via telephone with members, employer groups, brokers, physicians, and physician office staff using strong dialogue and customer service competencies.
*Written communication skills are important.
