  •   DEFINITION: Under the supervision of the Transition School to Work (TSW) Coordinators, the Transition School to Work (TSW) Job Coach is responsible for helping to implement the TSW program at the high school level by coordinating all needs of the job placement process including placement, monitoring and community work to discover new placement locations.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following tasks, knowledges, skills and other characteristics.     TASKS:
    Assists TSW Coordinator with student interviews to determine employment interests and career opportunities; works with local employers to develop ongoing student employment placements; matches student interests with employer needs. Provides encouragement and monitors student progress at the job site; assists students to develop career-oriented skills (writing resumes, completing applications); counsels students in desirable work ethics; collects feedback of student’s work. Contacts teachers, parents, and other agency personnel as needed. Participates in IEPs and/or meetings with student teachers, parents and other service providers as needed. Develop/implements plans for placement training; prepares analysis of work environment and assist with instruction in the PAES lab; observes and documents student progress; implements plans for instruction; and assists students by providing job coaching support;

    Assists TSW Coordinator with making copies, filing paperwork, tutoring students, and grading homework and tests; organizes materials and classroom for daily teaching; monitors students before and after school and during lunch; assists student with mobility; monitors and assists students with eating, toileting, and personal hygiene; aides in occupational and physical therapy for students; ensures a healthy and safe environment; cleans and sanitizes toys, mats, and tables; documents any student-related incidents or injuries; performs related duties as assigned.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:
    Knowledge of District policies and procedures
    Knowledge of developmental, physical and mental delays and disorders
    Knowledge of special education or special needs accommodations
    Knowledge of standards for special education.
    Knowledge of AVID strategies.
    Skill in utilizing sensory equipment.
    Skill in monitoring and assisting students
    Skill in effective verbal and written communication
    Skill in following oral and written instructions
    Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is performed in indoor and outdoor environments. Works requires frequent standing, sitting, walking, bending, and lift a minimum of 50 pounds. May be exposed to infectious diseases.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    High School Diploma or equivalent.
    Fingerprint clearance is required
    One (1) year of childcare or classroom experience and one (1) year of working with students with special needs, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
    Additional certifications may also be required as specified by the District.

    Depending on the needs of the District, some incumbents in this class must be able to demonstrate fluency in both Spanish and English as a condition of employment.

    Salary Grade: 12 Hourly Pay: $13.38 Hours per Day: 7.5 Days: 189
