Position Summary

The Center for Development and Disability (CDD), established in 1990, is New Mexico's University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research and Service. These centers, authorized by the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act, build the capacities of states and communities to respond to the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

Based in the Autism and Other Developmental Disabilities Division, the position provides a wide range of psychosocial assessment, therapeutic, and case management services for a multidisciplinary outpatient clinic setting at CDD . This position requires a high degree of independent decision-making as well as team collaboration. Leads and trains lower level counselors/social workers, students, and/or interns engaged in related therapeutic/patient-care activities, as appropriate to the individual person.

This position requires some traveling around the state.

Conditions of Employment
  • Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
  • Must be employment eligible as verified by the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (OIG) and the Government Services Administration (GSA).
  • Subject to credentialing process; must maintain credentialed status.
Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, or an equivalent field; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.Certification/LicensureLicensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) or equivalent OR Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) or equivalent OR licensure pending, as documented by temporary license.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • evidence-based practices for collecting and evaluating data for case management and clinical decisions
  • working with families of people with ASD and/or Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorder
  • referral and advocacy to facilitate client and caregiver access to appropriate services and resources
  • working as part of a team with other health and mental health professionals
  • clinical supervision, guidance and training for lower level therapists, trainees and social work students

Spanish language skills in clinical settings (i.e., dual role interpretation).

Additional RequirementsThis position requires a background check and DOH fingerprinting.This position requires some travel within the state.
